How Are Playgrounds Built? | Cheongwoo Fun Station

The 5-step build process, from design to installation inspection

Behind every finished playground is a systematic production process, from design planning to passing safety inspections. Here's a breakdown of the steps that go into making a playground at Cheongwoo Fun Station.

STEP 1. Design - Concept planning and 3D realization

Playground creation starts with design. We set a theme that appeals to children, such as dinosaurs, beaches, or forest ecosystems, and visualize it in a 3D program. Once the concept is fleshed out, the subsequent design and build phases flow seamlessly.

STEP 2. Design - Review structural safety and create drawings

Once the design is finalized, the design team works to turn it into a real, manufacturable structure. We review safety-critical details, such as the strength of the structure, member spacing, and materials used, and complete fabrication drawings in a CAD program.

STEP 3. Fabrication - Machining parts and factory production

Based on the design drawings, fabrication begins at the production center. Each part, including steel columns, decking, slides, and panels, is machined to the drawing specifications. Quality and dimensions are pre-checked prior to on-site assembly.

STEP 4. On-site installation - assembly and floor finishing

Once the fabricated parts are delivered to the site, the site management team will proceed with the installation. This consists of assembling the structure, attaching the character panels and walls, and installing the roof using a crane. After the structure is installed, the floor is rubberized to provide a shock-absorbing finish.

STEP 5. Safety inspection - Opening after passing Stage 3 authentication

The park does not open immediately after installation is completed. It will be available for use only after passing all three stages: product certification inspection (NIST), activity inspection (MOE), and installation inspection (MSS).
